Review: The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi (Spoiler-Free)
It's rare for a series to peak at the second book, I feel like usually second books are the valley instead, but this series is definitely an exception. I LOVED the first two books in this series, but only liked this one. The stakes weren't raised at all (the villains are such caricatures) and the ending felt so cliché.
However. I still love the characters in this story. Zofia is my absolute favorite. I felt a little more disconnected from Séverin and Laila in this installment, which is odd because they're the "main" characters.
This book had some super fun scenes (like in the caves!), and the build up to the ending had me excited, but ultimately nothing ever made me feel worried or a heavy sense of emotion. I feel like I was supposed to be sad in parts that I really felt indifferent.
Overall, this was fun, but didn't live up to the attachment I had to the rest of the series, especially The Silvered Serpents.
