Review: Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman (Spoiler-Free)
The time has come. I've consumed all the Heartstopper content. (Yes, technically I know there are novellas and the updated Webtoon, but I need to draw the line somewhere for my own mental wellbeing).
I was surprised to see that a lot of the content of this volume actually was in the show too! Not the Paris trip of course (I think that was due to COVID), but a lot of the conversations that took place on the trip happened in season one of the show.
I like Tao and Elle (as a couple) in the graphic novels better than in the show, but probably because in the show I'm convinced Tao is ace and no one can convince me otherwise.
I found the hotel scenes in this book to be super sweet and honestly nostalgic of a band trip I took to Italy in high school. I also love Tara and especially Darcy.
Nick is as perceptive and caring as ever as in this volume, Charlie starts showing some signs of mental illness.
Super cute, has good conversations, a fun time—Heartstopper does it all. Maybe one day I'll read some of the novellas, but for now I'm just hoping for a season 2 announcement for the show!
