Review: And the Trees Crept In by Dawn Kurtagich (Spoiler-Free)

★★★★★-5

This book was mind-boggling. I constantly didn't know what was real and what was allegorical. I loved that about this book, and that is something that I've always wanted to find in a book. The ending confuses you, but then explains itself in a way that leaves the reader in complete awe, not frustration. The characters in this book are so wonderful as well, if wonderful can be used to describe people with the most disturbing outlooks. This is the first horror book that I have ever read and I completely and totally loved it.

“Rotting in your skin rotting in your mind you are rotting in this house in this house you'll die.” - Dawn Kurtagich (And the Trees Crept In)

Silla and Nori run away from home. They make it to their Aunt's manor to seek shelter for now. Things are going fine until Silla starts noticing. She notices too much and ignores too little. The woods are getting closer.

Song I was reminded of while reading: The Hanging Tree
